Lists of Vascular Plant Taxa by NWI Wetland Mapping Classification Code: One or more NWI wetland mapping classification codes was assigned to each taxon based upon the habitat descriptions contained in over 300 botanical manuals. These descriptions contained information on the occurrence of each taxon according to such parameters as landscape position, substrate, vegetative community, wetland type, water regime, and water chemistry.

These listings represent initial assessments that have not been validated by field surveys or community data contained in the ecological literature. The assignments appear generally to be quite accurate, but the listings contain errors of omission and commission that need to be corrected.
